The Red Bluff Kiwanis Club :

The Red Bluff Kiwanis Club was chartered September 28, 1928, and operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Over these past years, the club has held many events to raise monies, including (but not limited to) Giving Tuesday, Cards For Kids, Pancake Breakfast, Martinis on the River, etc..   The proceeds of these fundraising events are utilized to aid the community in a variety of ways, including (and again, not limited to) sponsoring youth groups, acquiring supplies and provisions to benefit children and children support groups, and providing college scholarships. The Club receives no federal or local funding; all operating costs come from donations or fundraising efforts.

The Club has enjoyed a rich history over the years, with its members coming from many fields, including accounting, civil service, education, management, medicine, etc..  The Club is 100% run by dedicated volunteers to ensure all monies raised can directly influence the health and well-being of as many children as is possible.

The Red Bluff Kiwanis Club firmly believes cumulative small steps in the right direction can eventually solve seemingly unsurmountable large problems. Through its social media outlet, website, and community awareness events, the Club serves as a resource for community members, addressing concerns and providing pertinent information as needed.  The public is encouraged to volunteer with the Club and work together to build a better community.   The Red Bluff Kiwanis Club’s efforts build strong alliances of people who care about the children and community where everyone resides.

Thank you to Daniele Eyestone for joining us this week at Kiwanis to share about the Street SMART Citizen Initiative (Measure S)

Daniele provided an in-depth look at what Measure S would mean for Red Bluff, including:

🛣️ Red Bluff’s current Road Condition Index is 36 out of 100
💰 The City currently receives $1.2 million for roads, but after required expenses, only about $237,000 remains for actual road repairs
📋 Measure S proposes a 1% sales tax increase for 12 years, dedicated strictly to road improvements
👥 A citizen oversight committee would ensure funds are used only for that purpose

The first roads slated for improvement include Walnut, Jackson, Aloha, Oak, Luther, Kimball, and Gilmore — with the initiative advocating for additional roads as well. The estimated cost to improve the listed roads is $396 million.

Measure S will appear on the June 2nd ballot and would require a 50% +1 vote to pass. The proposed tax would apply only to purchases made within Red Bluff city limits and would exclude essential items like food and prescriptions.

We appreciate Daniele taking the time to educate our members and community on this important local issue!
