What We Do

Our Kiwanis Club participates in a variety of projects throughout the year that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children. Additionally, we typically have speakers at our weekly meetings to explore topics of interest to the membership. We engage in a number of social activities to share experiences, talents and our collective interests. All represent great opportunities for service, friendships and personal growth.

Committees:

In order to carry out all the projects that our club is involved with throughout the year, each member is asked to join one or more committees.

Youth Services Committee: 

Organizes most of the club’s projects that involve youth activities, such as:

  • Telephone Santa
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • V.I.P. Fishing (for clients of North Vally Services)
  • Annual Youth Camp – the largest annual project

Vocational Guidance Committee:

  • Selects “Student of the Quarter” from Red Bluff High School and Mercy High School
  • Selects “Student of the Session” from Salisbury High School
  • Identifies & recommends scholarship candidates to the Board of Directors; makes presentation of the scholarships to winning seniors.

Finance Committee:

  • Prepares the annual club budget
  • Controls club expenditures
  • Recommends fundraising projects

House Reception and Fellowship Committee:

  • Collects weekly lunch money, sets up and stores weekly meeting equipment (P.A. system, projector, club banners, member badge case, and head table podium, bell, etc.).
  • Arranges all club social activities

Interclub: 

  • Announce upcoming interclub events with other Kiwanis clubs in Division 39 and elsewhere (CAL-NEV-HA Dist. conventions & training sessions, etc.)
  • Arranges meetings to other clubs by our members. conducting signups and providing reminders and any car-pooling plans; reporting participation to Club secretary.

Membership and Growth: 

  • Recommends candidates for membership into the Club
  • Conducts new member orientation and induction
  • Promotes growth and activities with the club.
  • ALL CLUB MEMBERS ARE CONSIDERED TO BE MEMBERS OF THIS COMMITTEE as bringing guests and potential new members to our club are the key to our success.

Agriculture and Conservation Community Service Committee:

  • Supports and participates in the annual Farm/City Night
  • Supports and participates in Farm Day

Support of Spiritual Aims Committee: 

  • Promotes spiritual values within our club
  • Coordinates prayer/invocation at weekly club meetings & events
  • Conducts devotional services at the youth camp
  • Supports and participates in Family Day

Sponsored Youth and Leadership programs:

  • Works with Key Clubs at the Red Bluff High School and the Mercy High School
  • Works with the Builders Club at various Elementary schools.
  • Works with and participates in Aktion Club meetings and events
  • Promotes interaction between our Club members and these Clubs.

Program Committee: 

Coordinates weekly luncheon program speakers and presentations; encourages ALL CLUB MEMBERS to assist in obtaining speakers to keep our meetings interesting and well-attended.

Communication Committee:

  • Publishes club bulletin – summarizing club’s weekly meeting and program and distributing it to club members via email.
  • Maintains and updates current roster of club members, addresses, phone numbers, and emails, as well as birthday/anniversary listings.

Concessions Committee:

  • Researches & identifies new fundraising activities for the club, and recommends changes and improvements to existing fundraisers to the President & Board of Directors.
  • Coordinates fundraising activities

Public Relations Committee:

Promotes Club activities and accomplishments through local media outlets and website; develops press releases and advertising for Club fundraisers.

Sunshine Committee:

  • Recognizes club member birthdays
  •  “Get Well” and “Sympathy” cards to our club members and their families.

Hixon Committee:

Is comprised of past Hixon Award recipients to select future Hixon Award Recipients

Pancake Breakfast

Though not an official committee, the Pancake Breakfast is our club’s major fundraiser, held each year at the Red Bluff Elks Lodge and requires the help of our entire membership. Key Club and Aktion Club members also help with staffing.
